Discovery Corner is a private, non-profit after-school program sponsored by Grace Episcopal Church. Target group is grades 1 to 5. The location is the Pioneer Memorial Hall at the corner of B and 4th streets in Wheatland, CA. Amelia Oliver is the facility Director and Lonnie Rohde is the Assistant Director. There is a 15 student limit per day.
Discovery Corner Philosophy
Offering an activity-based opportunity for kids to discover and explore their environment and community is important to the happiness, health, and success of Wheatland youth. As an Outreach Ministry of Grace Church, Discovery Corner seeks to inspire children to care for each other, the community, and the environment.
Discovery Corner highlights science and the community as knowledge laboratories that provide multiple opportunities for hands-on learning about our complex world. We believe that youth need quality programs that provide supportive learning activities, offer positive peer and adult interactions, promote self-confidence, and encourage community participation.
Regular Hours of Operation - 2:30 to 5:30
2:30 to 3:00 Snack for children arriving directly from school
3:00 to 4:30 Daily Core Activity
4:30 to 5:30 Homework Focus and extracurricular time
Daily Core Activity: Each day will have a specific theme that will go through the Quarter. We ask that students not be picked up before 4:30 PM so that they can fully participate in the activity.
Prices: Core Activity - $10 per day
Homework Focus - $2 per half hour
Sibling Discount - 10% for an additional child.
Registration Fee - $15 one-time fee
